After living in San Diego County for 90% of my life, I am very familiar with the Carlsbad Village. However, it would seem after I moved away to college, The Goods moved in and it wasn’t until I moved back that the light “donut’ sign in the window caught my eye. Now the first time I saw it the shop was closed I had to wait even longer to see if I had just found a new donut stop. Luckily I didn’t have to wait too long.

This week, during a day out, I got to stop by The Goods and realized that yes, I had just found a new donut stop. Inside was quiet as it was the middle of the week, but it was easy to see that others had become regulars stopping by for a few minutes and reading out what I’m guessing was the usual and then they were gone. I on the other hand took the time to enjoy the quiet atmosphere and comfy seats while also enjoying my donut.

They had an amazing variety of donuts and I wanted to try them all, but decided to go with their Mexican Hot Chocolate donut. I wish I could have eaten more, but just one was so rich and delicious that there was no way I could have had an encore. The flavor was indulgent and I love how they topped the donut with whipped cream and marshmallows; what is hot chocolate without either? While I didn’t get to try some of their coffee or other drinks this visit, I can only assume that they are equally satisfying as their donuts were.
